Specs at a Glance
If you enjoy an outdoor lifestyle, the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek deserves your attention. It’s among the most adventurous compact SUVs in the class. Not only is the new Crosstrek more than capable of venturing off the beaten path, but it also proves to be a safe and comfortable family hauler. Let’s find out how the Base trim compares to the Wilderness trim.
Performance
The Crosstrek Base is peppy enough for most drivers. Its 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer four-cylinder engine develops a satisfying 152 horsepower. To help promote optimum fuel efficiency, Subaru mates this engine to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission. A full-time Symmetrical AWD system comes standard, which gives you added confidence when exploring the rugged backcountry. You can also take advantage of the SUV’s stability-enhancing X-MODE feature.
A larger 2.5-liter, Subaru Boxer four-cylinder engine rests underneath the Wilderness trim’s hood. Output is a more muscular 182 horsepower. A lower final-drive ratio also enables the Crosstrek Wilderness to offer enhanced low-speed climbing. Other highlights include 9.3 inches of ground clearance, a front skid plate, and additional off-road driving modes. A higher 3,500-pound towing capacity further sets apart the Wilderness trim.
Appearance
While the Crosstrek Base is the lineup’s most affordable trim, it does not cut any corners in the styling department. Rugged fenders make the Crosstrek Base look ready to hit the trails. Meanwhile, a roof spoiler elevates the SUV’s sportiness. Attractive 17-inch alloy wheels and LED Steering Responsive Headlights also come standard. A few of the available paint colors include Pure Red, Sun Blaze Pearl, Sapphire Blue Pearl, and Crystal White Pearl.
The Crosstrek Wilderness looks even more adventurous. Its exclusive 17-inch matte black-finish wheels are wrapped in all-terrain tires. When tackling rough landscapes, this trim’s unique bumpers are designed to improve approach and departure angles.
Features
Many people are surprised by the Crosstrek Base’s amount of standard equipment. Its Starlink Multimedia system features dual 7.0-inch touchscreens with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Other niceties include dual-zone automatic climate control, a Rear Vision Camera, and EyeSight Driver Assist safety technologies.
To give the Wilderness trim’s interior an extra degree of protection, Subaru adds StarTex water-repellent upholstery. A larger 11.6-inch HD touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration sweetens the deal. Wireless device charging, heated front seats, and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot are standard.
