What's New for the 2027 Subaru Outback?
Following a full redesign, the Outback carries over to the 2027 model year with minimal changes.
What Are the 2027 Outback Trims & Features?
The new Outback is offered in six trim levels: Premium, Limited, Touring, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Touring XT.
Exceptional value makes the Outback Premium an especially appealing entry point. Some of its notable standard features include a 12.1-inch HD multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a fully digital instrument cluster, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The leather-trimmed Outback Limited is more upscale. While an onboard navigation system seamlessly guides you to your destinations, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system elevates your music-listening experience. This trim also enhances cold-weather comfort by adding a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats.
If you crave more luxury, consider the Touring trim. Some of its high-end features include ventilated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, and additional EyeSight driver-assistance technologies.
For serious outdoor enthusiasts who need a more capable off-road performer, Subaru offers the Outback Wilderness. Adventurous features, such as a raised suspension with electronically controlled shocks and all-terrain tires, help you tackle challenging terrain. Along with this trim's rugged hardware comes a more powerful turbocharged engine.
The Outback Limited XT is essentially a more powerful version of the Limited trim. However, it also adds a 360-degree camera and larger 19-inch black alloy wheels. At the top of the lineup sits the Touring XT.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2027 Outback Have?
The Outback's standard power source is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter, Boxer four-cylinder engine. It produces a competitive 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Higher trim levels step up to a turbocharged 2.5-liter, Boxer four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This extra muscle enhances acceleration and increases the Outback's towing capacity to 3,500 pounds. Both powertrains are paired with a continuously variable transmission. Subaru's full-time Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system comes standard throughout the lineup.
What Safety Features Does the 2027 Outback Include?
EyeSight driver-assistance technologies come standard. While Pre-Collision Braking helps you avoid frontal impacts, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering helps take the stress out of highway driving. Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic High Beams are also standard.
