Performance
The only engine for the 2024 Forester is a 2.5L four-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a continuously variable transmission. That same engine comes standard on the 2024 Outback. Unlike the Forester, the Outback offers a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder engine that powers 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Either way, the Outback utilizes a continuously variable transmission for smooth shifts.
Appearance
Between the two, the 2024 Outback is the larger option. Both of these SUVs have a sleek exterior design. For the Forester, LED headlights are standard across the board. Raised roof rails become standard on the Premium trim level. Every version of the 2024 Outback has LED headlights and raised roof rails, plus integrated crossbars.
The Wilderness trim levels will be available for the Forester and the Outback in 2024. These models come with increased ground clearance and a front skid plate. They also have a full-size spare tire.
Features
Features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and automatic climate control are standard for the Forester and the Outback. The Forester has a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while the Outback has dual 7-inch screens. Select Forester models swap to an 8-inch touchscreen. As for the Outback, it upgrades all but the base trim level to an 11.6-inch touchscreen instead.
The Subaru EyeSight suite of advanced safety features is included on both vehicles. It includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and forward collision mitigation.
