Some unusual baby names have popped up in recent years, including interesting forenames like Tuf, Kyndle and Vice for boys, and Ransom and Snowy for girls. You may not be in love with these monikers, but there's another among this group that we happen to be big fans of!
Recently, the Social Security Administration revealed that five bouncing baby boys were named Subaru in 2013 - after our favorite vehicle brand! It's the first year ever that Subaru has appeared in the baby-name bank so many times. And just so you know, the SSA doesn't add a name to their annual list of most popular baby names unless it's been used five times or more over the previous calendar year. That means there could be other Subarus out there who had the name before it was popular!
As for the reasons why this handful of U.S. parents chose to name their babies Subaru, there's really no way of knowing. But perhaps, they simply love their cars or hope that one day their children will be featured in Subaru ads, kind of like the Ronald McDonalds recently used in Taco Bell's breakfast commercial. We may never know the real answer, but we hope they all become Subaru drivers for life when they grow up!
