There was a big surprise in store for one very special guest at Subaru WinterFest. The 11-year-old self-proclaimed adventurist, Derek, enjoyed a free weekend at the event with his family courtesy of Subaru of America. But aside from free private ski lessons and resort activities, the best part of the experience was when Derek found out his Make-A-Wish dream was going to come true.
For the past four consecutive years, Subaru has been a big supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, contributing more than $4.5 million to the charity and granting an amazing 610 wishes. On this particular occasion, Subaru decided to bring Derek and his family out to the company’s WinterFest event at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, where there were special “clues” around the premises that got Derek’s attention.
Once his curiosities were roused, the big moment came: Derek was told that Subaru would cover his dream trip to Alaska! We’re sure the on-stage announcement is something Derek will remember forever and we’re proud to hear that Subaru is going to grant this young man’s wish. Derek says he’s always wanted to fish for salmon and see the mystic glaciers of The Last Frontier. Now he and his family have an exciting trip to look forward to and we wish them the best on their journey!
In response to the Make-A-Wish surprise, Tim Tagye, promotions and sponsorship manager, Subaru of America, Inc. said, “It was really special to be a part of revealing his wish in such an exciting way at the Subaru WinterFest event. We look forward to continuing to support the outstanding Make-A-Wish organization which brings hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions, in the years to come.”
