Subaru is partnering with the Google Expeditions Pioneer Program to give students around the nation and other countries the opportunity to experience virtual reality learning. Google Expeditions is a unique platform that offers virtual tours of outerspace, museums and iconic locales on other continents to provide an educational experience unlike any other.

Subaru is providing vehicles for the Google Expeditions Pioneer Program that will be used to deliver kits containing cardboard viewers and phones for students and special tablets for teachers - the tools needed for schools to bring Expeditions to the classroom. So far, kits are being transported to schools in six different states, including Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Illinois, Texas and California, along with schools in the United Kingdom, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia.

In addition to providing delivery vehicles for the program, Subaru also looks forward to using its expertise to help develop new Expeditions. Specifically, the automaker would like to cover subjects and explore locations that the brand and its customers are passionate about, such as National Parks, zero-landfill manufacturing and, of course, anything having to do with adventure.

Google is also working with several other partners, such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and PBS. With the help of its collaborators, the search-engine mogul plans to create more virtual reality panoramas with 3D images, videos and photo spheres, which will engage students and give them a stronger understanding of the world outside of the pages of their textbooks.
