2026 Subaru Outback Model Review - Phoenix, AZ

What's New for the 2026 Subaru Outback?
Everything about the Outback is transforming for the 2026 model year. It gets a new body style (mid-size SUV build), larger, more sophisticated interior technology, and plenty of interior and exterior style refreshes. If you really want a brand-new Outback, the 2026 model year is the year to switch to Subaru's Outback.
What Are the 2026 Outback Trims & Features?
The 2026 Outback is available in Premium, Limited, Limited XT, Touring, Touring XT, and Wilderness trims.
Subaru's Outback is known for its signature mechanical design. Even the Premium gets 8.7 inches of ground clearance, Subaru Symmetrical all-wheel drive, and X-MODE with Hill Descent Control. Few mid-size SUVs done in a traditional wagon style are going to corner and accelerate the way the Outback does, and that's a very good thing. Every Outback trim gets a 12.1-inch Multimedia infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so you've got solid entertainment and map visuals right off the bat. Premium trims are designed with 18-inch alloy wheels that have a sharp, dark gray finish. Touring trims upgrade to perforated Nappa leather-trimmed upholstery, enhanced EyeSight Driver Assist tech (such as active lane change assist), and handy power-folding exterior mirrors. A Wilderness trim has so many exclusive features, there's not even enough room to cover them here, but they include an enhanced 9.5 inches of ground clearance, anodized copper-finish exterior and interior touches, and StarTex water-repellent upholstery.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 Outback Have?
The 2026 Outback can be equipped with a 2.4L turbocharged BOXER engine with 260 horsepower. Early trims of the 2026 Outback are equipped with a 2.5L engine rated at 180 horsepower. When combined with symmetrical all-wheel drive and EyeSight technology, these two engines provide one of the most confident enhanced drives in the Outback's class.
What Safety Features Does the 2026 Outback Include?
Subaru's EyeSight technology is packed with modern tools that make your Outback smarter and more responsive to danger. Enhanced EyeSight tech offers hands-free driving assist, pre-curve speed reduction, and emergency stop assist with safe lane selection. Other tools, such as a Surround View Monitor, help the driver maintain control over their SUV at all times.
