Subaru has been making quality cars, trucks, and other types of vehicles for many years now. Therefore, it is no surprise that the brand had a good showing at the Southern Ohio Forest Rally (SOFR) in June. Rider Travis Pastrana won his class and finished third overall at the rally, which helped him in the chase for the American Rally Association (ARA) championship.
Which Class Did Pastrana Win?
Pastrana took part in the Limited Four-Wheel Drive (L4WD) class at the event, featuring last year's champion Brandon Semenuk. Semenuk won this event last year, withstanding a furious rally from Pastrana on his way to an ARA title. Pastrana was able to win thanks to Semenuk's uncharacteristically poor performance. However, Semenuk rebounded later to help himself stay afloat in the ARA championship race.
Conditions Were Tough
The event was interesting, thanks to the wet weather. The rain made handling harder, as the track felt more like a mud pit instead of traditional gravel. The poor weather caused Semenuk to go off course, so he had to pull out of the competition temporarily and lose his shot at defending his SOFR title.
Pastrana's Vehicle Experienced a Defect
Although he did enough to win, Pastrana's vehicle was not immune to challenges. The WRX ARA25L that he and his teammate were riding in had trouble with the hot and humid conditions present during the multi-day event. However, despite noting minor mechanical issues, Pastrana said that the vehicle did well overall and was excited to see what it could do for the rest of the year.
