What's New For the 2020 Subaru WRX?

In 2020, the Subaru WRX gets some minor changes. All trim levels get welcome lighting this year, giving the WRX a more sophisticated look and making it safer. There are some trim-specific differences this year as well. Now, the STI model comes with a new bumper design. It also gets a standard push-button start and keyless entry.

As before, the Subaru WRX stands out for its signature sporty feel, which includes some of the best acceleration and handling in its class. The WRX also has exceptionally responsive and tight steering on windy roads. All-wheel drive adds to the WRX's handling capabilities. As you'd expect from a Subaru, the WRX also comes with several standard safety features. The WRX is part of the third generation that started in 2015.

What Features are Available for 2020?

There are five trims in the 2020 Subaru WRX. All five-seat five people. The base trim is called the WRX. Even this trim comes with an abundance of features, including Subaru's own advanced symmetrical all-wheel drive. The interior consists of cloth fabric seats, split-folding seats in the rear, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel for a touch of luxury. On the technology front, the base WRX gets a 6.5-inch infotainment display screen complete with Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Satellite radio is standard as well.

The WRX also gets some driver-assist safety aids and a backup camera. Its sporty exterior includes 17-inch wheels and specialty performance tires to give additional grip on low-traction surfaces. The next trim is the Premium. It has all the base trim's features plus a sunroof, heated seats in the front, and a larger seven-inch infotainment display screen. The Premium is followed by the Limited, which adds leather seats for comfort and a power-adjustable driver's seat. LED headlights give the Limited a bold look.

Several packages are available to enhance the Premium and Limited. This includes an automatic transmission and Subaru's innovative EyeSight safety package with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and other advanced driving aids. You can also add navigation to the Limited's infotainment system and get an upgraded sound system. The STI follows with upgraded Brembo brakes, a different steering mechanism, a sport-tuned suspension system, and upgraded differentials. This trim also has a more powerful engine. The STI Limited gets a standard sunroof, sporty seats, leather-trimmed seats, and a standard Harman Kardon sound system. You can add a low-profile spoiler to this trim.

2020 Subaru WRX Powertrain Options

2020 Subaru WRXPower is a strong suit of the 2020 Subaru WRX, even at the base level. The WRX comes equipped with a 2.0L engine with four cylinders at the base level. This engine, which is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, generates a maximum of 268 HP and 258 LB-FT of torque. An automatic transmission is available instead with select trims. The STI models get a larger engine that produces up to 310 HP and 290 LB-FT of torque.

Packed with Safety Features

2020 Subaru WRXA backup camera is standard on the base trim, while you get more driver-assist safety aids up the line. Most are available through Subaru's EyeSight package, which has cruise control, lane-departure warning, emergency braking, and forward-collision warning.
