What's New for the 2018 Subaru Forester?

The 2018 Subaru Forester is Subaru's latest and newest vehicle to be available at any market and their most recent addition to the Forester model line. The new Forester is built as a compact SUV and has seen a few changes up from last year's model. For instance, this new model has a special Black Edition trim package that includes black-finished wheels, unique body trim, and a grille. It also adds some new black upholstery on the interior of the vehicle.

Trims & Features

The 2018 Forester, being a new vehicle, does come with a new set of trim levels and unique features to spice it up. The new Forester has six different trim levels: the 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 2.0XT Premium, and the 2.0XT Touring. The 2.5i is the standard trim level with all of the typical features like 17-inch steel wheels and cloth upholstery. The 2.5i Premium upgrades from this and adds a panoramic sunroof and reclining rear seats. The 2.5i Limited version adds leather upholstery on the interior and a better driver information display on the dashboard. The 2.5i Touring adds in unique 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, and now dual-zone automatic climate control features. The 2.0XT Premium brand has much of the same equipment as the 2.5i Premium but also includes better brakes, shifting paddles, and an all-weather package. Lastly, the 2.0XT Touring trim is pretty much the same as the 2.5i Touring but consists of a power liftgate and adjusted height settings.

2018 Subaru Forester Interior


The 2018 Subaru Forester has been given a strong engine to be able to work with the power that it can produce. The base engine for the new Forester can provide a 170 horsepower rating at up to 5,800 wheel revolutions per minute, in addition to creating a minimum of up to 174 pounds per feet of torque. The inside of the engines contains flat four-cylinders that operate on variable timing scales and an all-wheel drive train. The engine transmission is generally automatic but can vary continuously. The vehicle runs on regular unleaded fuel and has an EPA that runs with a combined 28 miles per gallon*, getting 26 MPG* on the ordinary roads and 32 MPG* when riding along the highway.

As with any new vehicle, protecting drivers and passengers is crucial, and the younger passengers as well, which is why typical features like child seat anchors and rear door safety locks have already been included. Improved steering, traction, and stability control is a noticeable upgrade, as well as the inclusion of parts such as an emergency braking assist feature, in the event of brake failure. A remote-controlled anti-theft alarm system has been included to prevent criminal activity from taking place. Improved lights that operate during the daytime are helpful when they can adjust to the settings of the time of day.
