Subaru WRX Engine and Transmission

A 268-horsepower, 2.0-liter flat-four engine powers the 2021 Subaru WRX. With its standard all-wheel drive, the WRX has a traction advantage over other compact cars, which stick with the traditional front-wheel drive format. A standard six-speed manual transmission is mated to this engine, and there's an optional continuously variable automatic transmission available on Premium and Limited models. WRX STI models impressively produce 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque with a turbocharged engine and only the six-speed manual transmission as a choice.

Subaru WRX Safety Features

Across the WRX lineup drivers will find a grand suite of safety features through SUBARU STARLINK. Some of the safety features you can find include: Traction Control System (TCS), Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) with Active Torque Vectoring, brake assist, LATCH System, a ring-shaped reinforcement frame body structure, and Subaru's advanced frontal airbag system (SRS) to name a few.
