2022 Subaru WRX

The most exciting chapter of the Subaru WRX has arrived for the 2022 model year with some key changes, including a design refresh that gives the sporty Subaru a new appearance inside and out. The 2022 WRX has styling updates to give its exterior a more daring and cutting-edge appearance with flared fenders, athletic lines and Subaru's signature hexagonal front grille. The 2022 Subaru WRX is built on the Subaru Global Platform, which is the same platform used by the Outback and the Crosstrek. However, the Subaru WRX has unique performance characteristics that give it a smooth ride and sharp handling. The updates continue on the inside for the Subaru WRX, which also has an updated cabin that includes the latest in infotainment and technology. The Subaru's interior also has higher-end amenities in the new model year, and it gets a bit more interior space. The instrument panel on the driver's display is new this year to provide you with improved visibility, and the WRX has a new touchscreen with an 11.6-inch display as well.

2022 WRX Trims & Features

The Subaru WRX is produced in four trims. The first is the base trim. Next comes the Premium trim, which is followed by the Limited, and finally the newly available GT. The 2022 WRX pushes its sharp handling even more with a retuned suspension. Thanks to upgraded dampers, and a stiffer chassis, performance in cornering, steering balance, and stability all feel better than ever. The new GT trim sets the handling bar higher with electronically adjustable dampers, allowing driver-controlled damping changes at the touch of a button.

2022 Subaru WRX Horsepower

For the 2022 model, the WRX features the latest version of Subaru's 2.4-liter direct-injection turbocharged BOXER engine. It produces an impressive 271 horsepower and features a twin-scroll turbocharger with an electronic wastegate. This allows the engine to produce a near-instant boost response and 258 pound-feet of torque. All-new automatic fingertip paddle shifting and an 8-speed manual mode will be seen for 2022. This can deliver 30% faster upshifts and 50% faster downshifts with more aggressive shift logic. Of course, the standard 6-speed manual transmission isn't going anywhere for those desiring total control over performance.

Subaru WRX Safety

The WRX is equipped with a bundle of safety features. Eyesight Driver Assist Technology comes standard on the Limited and GT models and includes Subaru Performance Transmission which warns you when you're swaying outside your lane. The automatic Pre-Collision Braking feature can even apply full braking force and bring you to a complete stop in emergency situations. New for 2022, the Automatic Emergency Steering feature can also assist in emergency situations by steering the vehicle away from oncoming obstacles if there's a clear path in the event braking alone is not enough to avoid an accident.
