Foresters with the manual transmission get an EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined, while CVTs come in at 25. Forester 2.0XT models boast a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 250 horsepower. The turbo engine only comes paired with the CVT, but the Subaru Intelligent Drive system on these models allows for drivers to reprogram the settings to make it mimic a 6- or 8-speed automatic.
